Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Maths Teacher to join a supportive, well-resourced department from January 2027 in Hedge End, near Southampton. You will teach Mathematics to students aged 11–16 within a collaborative team and a fully resourced curriculum.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or Early Career Teacher (ECT) status required.
• Ability to teach Mathematics to students aged 11–16.
• Secure subject and curriculum knowledge with ability to foster interest and address misunderstandings.
• Ability to plan structured lessons, adapt teaching and support diverse needs.
• Ability to assess progress, use data and provide effective feedback.
• Ability to manage behaviour and create an inclusive classroom environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining high professional standards.
• Ability to communicate with parents regarding student achievement and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Set high expectations and support student progress and outcomes.
• Maintain secure Mathematics knowledge and contribute to an engaging curriculum.
• Plan structured lessons and adapt teaching to student needs.
• Use formative and summative assessment and provide feedback.
• Manage behaviour and maintain positive student relationships.
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff and parents.
• Keep up to date with pedagogy, technology and curriculum initiatives.
• Manage classroom resources and report health and safety defects.
• Contribute to school development priorities and represent curriculum area when required.
