Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a History Teacher for a welcoming secondary school in Walton-on-Thames. The role supports Key Stages 3 and 4, with a strong focus on engaging lessons, high expectations, and developing students’ historical understanding.

The position welcomes experienced teachers and ECTs, with a salary per day of £150–£220 depending on experience and qualifications. This is a temporary role with potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching History within a secondary school.
• Have strong subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for History.
• Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Be committed to raising student achievement.
• Build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Be reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable.
• ECTs are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Inspiring students to develop a strong understanding and interest in History.
• Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of a range of learners.
• Monitoring and assessing student progress.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Working collaboratively with the wider Humanities department.
• Supporting students to achieve their academic potential.
• Contributing to the wider school community.
