Job summary

Aspire People, in partnership with a Newport secondary school, is seeking an English specialist who can also teach Performing Arts for KS3-4. This full-time, long-term role starts immediately and offers a supportive school community and opportunities to impact learners.

The successful candidate will hold QTS or equivalent, have recent UK secondary English teaching experience, and be confident delivering Performing Arts. DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.
• Be confident delivering Performing Arts lessons.
• Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Be passionate about raising attainment and inspiring young people.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Delivering Performing Arts lessons as part of the wider curriculum.
• Planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons that motivate and challenge learners.
• Assessing and monitoring student progress in line with school policies.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing.
