Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Computer Science Teacher to cover a period of maternity absence in a Stevenage secondary school. The role focuses on building pupils' confidence in programming and computational thinking while maintaining a structured learning environment.

You will teach CS across KS3 and KS4, delivering lessons on algorithms, networks and computer systems, and plan practical coding activities to develop independent problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong knowledge of Computer Science and programming.
• Can explain technical concepts clearly to different ability levels.
• Confident using digital resources and classroom technology.

Responsibilities

• Teach Computer Science across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver lessons on algorithms, programming, networks and computer systems.
• Plan practical coding activities that develop independent problem-solving.
• Support GCSE pupils with examination preparation and programming tasks.
• Monitor progress and adapt lessons to address misconceptions.
• Maintain effective routines during practical and theory-based lessons.
