Job description

Inspector – Engineering Industry, Tewkesbury

Our excellent, growing client in Tewkesbury is looking for an Inspector to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting all machined parts against the design intent, ensuring that the products meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, standards, geometrical tolerances, and surface finishes.
• Ensure detailed inspection plans are prepared for all parts and are issue-controlled.
• Carry out First Article/First Off inspections for components requiring CMM analysis.
• Conduct stage inspections of detailed machined components.
• Use measuring equipment to establish specifications of sizes, cylindricity, and concentricity.
• Perform and record routine inspections on production parts using CMM, projectors, micrometers, Vernier gauges, dial gauges, etc.
• Interpret results and communicate findings to the production team.
• Carry out random patrol inspections.
• Make confident decisions to sign off parts.
• Perform inspections on time, aligned with manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with production to meet quantities.
• Assist investigations into Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), Corrective Action Reports (CARs), and customer complaints.
• Maintain inspection equipment to a high standard, ensuring calibration schedules are followed.

Key Attributes

• Experience operating medium/large CMM machines.
• Experience producing high-quality machined components to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret close tolerance engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• High level of detection skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
• Comfortable working to deadlines and tolerances.
• Team player.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday 8am to 5pm, and Friday finish at 1pm.

Salary

Up to £35,000 depending on experience, plus benefits.
