The position holder will be responsible for the detailed inspection of aircraft components using the company SAP system to record the condition of components and create cost-effective repair route sheets as appropriate in accordance with OEM CMMs and SOPMs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake and complete detailed inspections of all components (excluding those requiring quarantine due to incidents/accidents) using the latest criteria and inspection equipment.
  2. Create and modify component overhaul/repair routes within SAP as required.
  3. Ensure all information (e.g., P/N, S/N, and condition) is accurately recorded in the shop repair order and on the SAP system.
  4. Carry out precise measurements of components as needed.
  5. Work according to production priority lists—ASPEN, Milestone dates provided by Production Control.
  6. Coordinate with technical engineering and other production departments as necessary.
  7. Perform other duties as directed by the section manager, team leader, or leading hand.
  8. Train and mentor team members based on your qualifications and experience.
  9. Maintain a personal Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
  10. Participate actively in daily department meetings.

  1. Promote and monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and codes of practice.
  2. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and agreements.
  3. Avoid setting detrimental precedents to operations and business.
  4. Maintain awareness of the Major Accident Prevention Plan (MAPP).
  5. Understand responsibilities outlined in the company's environmental procedures.
  6. Comply with all safety and environmental regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:

  1. An aerospace apprenticeship or qualification in an engineering subject is desirable.
  2. Experience in aerospace engineering or a similar environment.
  3. Background in mechanical component inspection.
  4. Experience with SAP systems is advantageous.
  5. Good knowledge of inspection techniques and equipment.
  6. Practical experience using imperial measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.
  7. Familiarity with manuals and Boeing websites.
  8. Good communication skills.
  9. Strong attitude towards workshop housekeeping.
  10. Able to meet tight deadlines.
  11. Flexible approach to work.
  12. Excellent team player.

Working Conditions:

  1. Shift work: Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday.
  2. Additional overtime may be required.
  3. Prolonged periods working with computers and screens.
  4. Sitting for most of the working day.
  5. Workshop temperature varies with season and operational activity.
  6. Occasional loud noises from machinery.

Compliance and Onboarding:

  1. Must have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions.
  2. Mandatory training required.
  3. Good vision (aided or unaided) to detect defects.
  4. Occasional lifting of heavy components.
  5. Able to sit for extended periods.
