Job description

First Achieve's Engineering Division are seeking a Quality Inspector for their client in Glasgow who specialise in Aerospace and Precision manufacturing.

You will be responsible for running a coordinate measuring machine during a production process. Turn measurements and instructions into models and use the machinery as an inspection tool, checking for accuracy during and after production.

The Role

Using engineering drawings, specifications, etc. for reference, inspect detailed machined parts and/or assemblies for conformity to design parameters. Indicate acceptance or rejection on production documentation.

  1. Perform monitoring and measuring device calibrations as assigned.
  2. Conduct CMM inspection of parts.
  3. Maintain working knowledge of PC DMIS CMM inspection software.
  4. Complete final inspection and AS9100 first article inspection sheets as required documenting product conformity.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of quality assurance procedure requirements as they apply to inspection and manufacturing operations.
  6. Document nonconforming product as required by internal and/or customer requirements.
  7. Ensure that tooling used as media of acceptance remain calibrated according to internal and/or customer requirements.
  8. Ensure correct material handling, identification and traceability of product throughout the manufacturing sequence.
  9. Perform all functions of a Quality Control Inspector as required by workload and production schedule needs.

Qualifications/Experience Required

  1. Previous experience in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is preferred.
  2. Experience in machining shop with various aluminium alloys, steel and titanium is strongly desired.
  3. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of basic inspection tools.
  4. Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, and GD&T.
