Job summary

GKN Aerospace in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to ensure aerospace components meet all necessary specifications. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, evaluation of test results and documenting findings.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in aerospace inspection is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in an inspection role or 5 years in manufacturing.
• Proficient with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Must obtain DPRV certification and any applicable customer certifications for product release.
• Must be a US Person or able to obtain necessary government licensing for controlled tech/products.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections to ensure product conformance to customer specifications.
• Conduct supplier self-release activities according to customer and industry requirements.
• Use precision measurement tools to ensure accurate measurements.
• Interpret and follow quality control standards, blueprints, and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Document inspection results with detailed reports and quality records.
• Weigh parts and mark per requirements; package shipments per customer specs.
• Coordinate shipping and transportation of products; interface with customer portals.
• Review supplier test results and process certifications; maintain knowledge of industry software (SAP & LN).
• Carry out all other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Preform receiving, in process and Final inspection to ensure product conformance to customer specifications.
• Conduct supplier self-release activities in accordance with customer and industry requirements.
• Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to ensure accurate measurements.
• Interpret and follow quality control standards, blueprints, technical documents, and specifications.
• Work with engineers and other technical staff to identify and solve quality-related issues.
• Document inspection results by completing detailed reports and quality records.
• Conduct part weighing and mark in accordance with requirements.
• Package shipments in line with customer specification.
• Arrange shipping and transpiration of products.
• Interface with customer portals to input and extract information.
• Review and interpret supplier test results and process certifications.
• Become proficient with industry software. Ie. SAP & LN.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in aerospace inspection or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in inspection role or minimum 5 years in manufacturing role
• Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• An effective communicator and an influential team member
• Must be able to obtain SAE Designated Product Release Verification (DPRV) certification along with all applicable customer certification for product release.
• Must be a US Person (Citizen or Green Card Holder) or have the ability to obtain the necessary Government licensing to work with controlled technology and products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in quality management (e.g., CQI, CQT).
• Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, AS13100)

Physical Requirements:

• Standing and walking at least 7hrs/day
• Ability to carry and lift weight up to 25lbs
• Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (At least 2hrs/day)
• Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (At least 7hrs/day)
