Piran Technology Group in the United Kingdom seeks an Inspector Technician to perform goods-in verification, in-process inspections and final inspection to aerospace standards. You will ensure traceability, material certification and release packages meet AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements, working within a production environment.
Experience reading engineering drawings and ensuring tight quality controls is essential.
The Inspector Technician is responsible for carrying out all physical verification activities in the business including raw material intake, in-process checks and final inspection to defined standards to ensure full compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards within the aerospace and defence sectors.
Working in the production environment the Inspection Technician will check product meets defined specifications and quality standards contributing to maintaining consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsible to: Quality Manager
Either Early Shift (06:00 - 14:00) or Late Shift (14:00 - 22:00)
Verify supplier material certs, traceability and conformance.
Check composite material shelf-life and freezer requirements.
Quarantine nonconforming material
Perform lay-up checks (ply orientation, fibre alignment, FOD)
Vacuum integrity checks prior to cure
Inspect post-cure laminates for defects (delams, porosity, inclusions)
Perform dimensional checks (manual or CMM-assited)
Validate full traceability package before release
Packaging to the required shipping standards
Collect inspection evidence and dimensional results
Verify key characteristics and tooling configurations
Engineering/Manufacturing NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Understanding of traceability and material certification
2-5+ years in manufacturing inspection
Experience with:
Goods-in verification
In-process inspections
Final inspection & release documentation
AS9100 / ISO 9001 awareness training
AS9102 / FAIR awareness
CMM operating experience
Apprenticeship background in manufacturing/aerospace
Experience working in a multi-site or growing organisation
Strong attention to detail
Integrity to apply standards consistently and objectively, regardless of pressure
Confident to challenge and question work that does not meet the requirements
Reliable and disciplined in following procedures, maintaining records and meeting deadlines.
Team-oriented, working well with operators, engineers and quality staff without being confrontational.
