Job description

Hope Cement Works, a leading producer of high-quality cement in the UK, located in the Peak District, is seeking an experienced LEV Inspection and Maintenance Engineer. This role involves inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems across our industrial facility, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations such as COSHH and HSG258.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting statutory examinations and tests of LEV systems, performing routine inspections, and producing detailed performance reports.
  • Diagnosing faults, repairing systems, sourcing spare parts, and ensuring continuous operation.
  • Maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation, documenting activities, and supporting audits.
  • Promoting safety culture, reporting hazards, and contributing to safety improvements.
  • Collaborating with teams and providing expert advice on LEV systems.
Requirements:
  • Qualification in Thorough Examination and Testing of LEV Systems (e.g., P601) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in heavy industrial environments with LEV systems.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations, mechanical/electrical maintenance skills, and ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Full UK Driving License.
Desirable Skills:
  • Engineering apprenticeship or vocational qualification.
  • Experience with bag filter systems, fan operation, permit-to-work, confined space, and working at height.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills and team collaboration.
