An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly regarded restructuring and insolvency team in Manchester, focusing on contentious insolvency matters.
The Opportunity
This well-established team provides a full service to insolvency practitioners, banks, funders, corporates and investors, handling both contentious and non-contentious matters. This role is for an Associate (1-5 PQE) to focus exclusively on contentious insolvency litigation.
The Work
You will work on a wide variety of contentious matters including:
- Acting for insolvency office holders on litigation arising during insolvencies, including antecedent transactions, wrongful trading, administration extensions, and paragraph 71 applications.
- Defending directors in CDDA (Company Directors Disqualification Act) applications.
- Acting for lenders and corporates on contentious matters including validation applications, enforcement of security, and possession proceedings.
- (Where relevant) involvement in contentious aspects of distressed real estate work, whether acting for office holders or lenders.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising comprehensively on insolvency litigation practice and procedures in both corporate and personal insolvency claims.
- Identifying and advising on litigation funding and insurance options for clients.
- Briefing Counsel and third-party experts as required.
- Managing case timetables effectively and carrying out legal research independently.
About You
We are looking for a solicitor with:
- 1-5 years PQE in restructuring and insolvency, with demonstrable experience in contentious matters.
- A good working knowledge of insolvency litigation procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Strong organisational and case management skills.
- Proficiency in legal document management systems.
- An innovative and solutions-focused approach.
