Senior Insolvency Consultant

HMRC is seeking a Senior Insolvency Consultant to join a team of 15 insolvency experts across various regional centres, including Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The role involves providing technical advice, supporting high-profile insolvency operations, and contributing to policy development and internal reforms within HMRC. The position offers an opportunity to influence insolvency practices and reduce tax debts, working closely with other government agencies and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the IGP team with technical advice and handle complex insolvency issues.
  • Assist operational teams with high-profile insolvency cases.
  • Ensure quality in technical insolvency advice provided by junior staff.
  • Engage with government bodies on initiatives to combat contrived insolvency and phoenixism.
  • Manage relations with insolvency leads in HMRC directorates.
  • Develop HMRC guidance for insolvency professionals and modernize internal processes.
  • Contribute to internal training and policy reviews, including the Insolvency Profession Exam Programme (IPEP).
