Insights & Algorithms Architect

Location: Edinburgh (UK) / Cork (Ireland)

The Energy Business Unit is a team of experienced research engineers creating technological innovations in the field of sustainable energy. We are developing technologies to monitor and interpret the power grid, to enable a more reliable, responsive, and dynamic power grid.

To extend our team, we are looking for an engineer to help with the modelling of the grid and physical assets within it, creating digital twins and condition-based monitoring algorithms to interpret the status. For example, develop models of power transformers.

Typical responsibilities

  1. Work with asset manufacturers to understand failure mechanisms
  2. Interpret data into actionable insights
  3. Work with internal teams to develop reference designs
  4. Develop physics-based models
  5. Develop prototypes

Qualifications

  1. Engineering or Physics Degree, 15+ years of experience in Power Systems, Data-Science, Algorithms
  2. AI experience is an advantage.
  3. Embedded microcontroller and C-language experience an advantage.
  4. System modelling in Matlab/Simulink, Python or similar.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  6. Fluent in English
  7. Strong team player capable of working in a multi-location international team
  8. Awareness of organization’s competitive markets and position
  9. Continuously seeks to improve functional and professional skills and knowledge
