Bucks Culture is a charity established to nurture and champion arts, heritage and culture across our county. We advocate for and support increased participation in quality cultural activities across Bucks – enabling meaningful experiences that build togetherness, belonging and pride, and we provide an invaluable networking and facilitating function for the Bucks cultural sector that underpins delivery, broadens horizons and increases opportunities.
We are seeking new Insight Volunteers to play a crucial role in collecting insight and helping to gain a greater understanding of who attends cultural venues. This role involves engaging visitors in cultural spaces, explaining the value of their feedback and taking consenting participants through a survey on a tablet – inputting their answers in real time. We want to understand more about who takes part in culture in Bucks, their experiences, motivations and barriers to help us create more opportunities for people to engage in arts and culture across the county. This data will be used to inform programming and policy decisions within cultural venues, as well as at a strategic level.
The role:
- Research is founded upon the willing co-operation of the public
- Research should be conducted honestly, objectively and without unwelcome intrusion/harm to respondents
- The rights of respondents are paramount.
This volunteer role is ideal for people-centred individuals who enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. No previous experience is necessary as we will provide fully-funded training to equip our volunteers and can cover travel expenses. The training is likely to take place in early May 2025.
Each volunteer will initially be asked to commit to a number of days gathering data in one of 10 cultural organisations within Bucks – these can fit around existing commitments or travel requirements. This will be an annual process and we would like to build a pool of volunteers to draw on in the future.
