Job Description

This is the Job

We're looking for an Insight Analyst to join our Chief Data & Analytics Office, helping turn complex data into meaningful insights that influence business decisions, customer experience and commercial performance across The AA.

This is a hands-on analytical role with a strong stakeholder focus. You'll combine your technical expertise in SQL and Python or R with the confidence to engage directly with business stakeholders, understand their challenges and translate their questions into structured, insightful analysis. Beyond identifying trends and patterns, you'll help stakeholders understand what the data is telling them, why it matters and how those findings can support better decisions.

Working alongside senior analysts, data scientists and BI specialists, you'll contribute to a range of analytical projects and insight led data products. We're looking for someone who enjoys both the technical challenge of working with data and the collaborative side of analytics, bringing curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to challenge thinking to deliver meaningful business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands on analysis using SQL and Python or R, exploring large and complex datasets to uncover trends, investigate business challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, clarify analytical requirements and translate business questions into structured, meaningful analysis.
  • Interpret and communicate analytical findings, presenting clear insights and evidence-based recommendations that help stakeholders understand performance and make informed decisions.
  • Apply exploratory data analysis, statistical techniques and foundational modelling approaches to investigate patterns, understand relationships and support predictive insights.
  • Collaborate with senior analysts, data scientists, BI developers and data engineers to support analytical projects, insight led data products and the quality and reliability of underlying data.
  • Take ownership of assigned analytical deliverables, managing stakeholder expectations, maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to continuous improvement across the team.

What Do I Need?

You’ll Bring

  • Strong SQL capabilities: Practical experience writing SQL queries to extract, join, manipulate and analyse large or complex datasets, with the ability to undertake analytical investigations confidently.
  • Hands on Python or R experience: Demonstrable experience using Python or R for data manipulation, exploration and analysis, applying technical skills to solve practical business problems.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement: Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements, ask relevant questions, manage expectations and translate business challenges into analytical activity.
  • Business focused analytical experience: A track record of using data to investigate problems, identify meaningful insights and support business decisions, demonstrating an understanding of the wider commercial or operational context.
  • Statistical and analytical knowledge: A working understanding of statistical techniques and foundational modelling approaches, such as regression, classification or clustering, alongside experience assessing data quality and interpreting analytical outputs.
  • Clear communication and influencing skills: The ability to explain complex analytical findings in an accessible and engaging way, adapting your communication to different audiences and confidently discussing insights, recommendations and implications with stakeholders.
