Inside Machinist (Large Machine Operator) - Join Our Team!

Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Inside Machinists (Large Machine Operators) for our Portsmouth, VA branch. This role involves operating large CNC machines, such as horizontal boring mills, vertical turning centers, and large CNC lathes, machining large parts like weldments and castings.

Position Details:

• Location: Newport News, VA (Portsmouth branch)
• Pay Rate: $37.50/hour + $120.00 per diem (if qualified)

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate large CNC equipment including Horizontal Boring Mills, Vertical Turning Centers, and CNC lathes.
• Perform precision machining tasks such as threading, drilling, tapping, and carbide machining.
• Measure and inspect parts accurately using appropriate instruments.
• Interpret complex blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Maintain safety standards and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 years of experience as an Inside-Shop Machinist.
• Technical proficiency with NC and manual machines, and controllers like Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, Cincinnati-Milacron.
• Strong math skills and ability to read technical documents.
• Preferred: Completion of a Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship.

Physical & Other Requirements:

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working in varied environmental conditions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a CAC.
• Experience in naval shipbuilding or repair is a plus.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
