Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD is recruiting an experienced Ward Manager to lead an inpatient mental health ward in Leeds. You will oversee clinical and operational delivery, ensuring safe, high-quality care and strong governance.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, manage staffing and care planning, and drive recovery-focused, person-centred care for women with complex mental health needs.

Qualifications

• RMN with current NMC registration.
• Inpatient setting experience.
• Diploma/degree or equivalent.
• Mentorship qualification.
• Strong clinical knowledge in mental health.
• Experience leading a clinical team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance patient care, team leadership, compliance.
• Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Providing clear and effective leadership to the nursing and wider clinical team.
• Managing the day-to-day clinical and operational requirements of the ward.
• Ensuring appropriate staffing and effective management of shifts.
• Maintaining high standards of clinical governance, quality and compliance.
• Ensuring internal policies, professional standards and external regulatory requirements are met.
• Developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Promoting a patient-centred and recovery-focused approach to care.
• Supporting patient assessments and care plan development and reviews.
• Monitoring patient progress and responding to changes in clinical presentation.
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and senior clinical leadership.
• Providing supervision and mentoring to nursing staff.
• Promoting continuous professional development across the ward.
• Identifying opportunities to improve clinical practice and patient outcomes.
• Ensuring clinical documentation is accurate and complete to standards.
• Promoting an open, professional culture across the service.
