Job description

The Inpatient Booking Clerk plays a crucial role in organizing and booking pre-operative assessment clinics across hospital sites, supporting pre-operative assessment nurses to deliver seamless services to elective patients prior to surgery.

Applicants should be motivated, flexible, and able to work independently. The role requires efficient teamwork, meeting deadlines in a demanding environment, and maintaining a professional image at all times.

The position involves providing a customer-focused service aligned with the Trust's 'First Impression' Standards, demonstrating confident communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include routine reception duties, booking inpatient appointments, and ensuring accuracy in patient scheduling. Keyboard skills are essential, and a professional appearance in line with the Trust's Uniform and Dress Code Policy is required.

The role is primarily based at Broadgreen Hospital, with potential coverage at the Royal Hospital site, and involves working at any Trust site as per the employment contract.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.

Key duties include adding patients to the waiting list via email, booking surgeries using the Inpatient Scheduler system, prioritizing admissions, and selecting patients for surgery following protocols. The role also involves admitting, discharging, and recording patient attendances, arranging ambulance services, interpreters, and pre-op appointments, and liaising with theatre staff to optimize theatre utilization.

Additional responsibilities include managing patient inquiries and complaints, updating patient contact information, canceling or removing patients from lists as requested, and communicating with GPs regarding patient attendance.
