We are looking for an organised and motivated Inpatient Administration Assistant to join our Specialist Palliative Care team at Priscilla Bacon Lodge. You will support the ward manager and clinical teams with patient records, staffing processes and day-to-day administration, helping the ward run smoothly and efficiently.

This is a varied and rewarding role where your contribution will directly support patient care. In return, you will be part of a supportive organisation that values your skills, encourages development and offers opportunities across the wider Community Operations Administration Services (COAS).

Main duties of the job

As Inpatient Administration Assistant you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the ward manager and clinical teams at Priscilla Bacon Lodge, helping to ensure the smooth running of the inpatient unit. This will include managing patient and staff records, supporting recruitment and HR processes, updating trackers and reports, and maintaining accurate documentation.

You will liaise with staff, patients and relatives, handling sensitive information with professionalism and compassion. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as you will also assist with tasks such as arranging meetings, supporting training compliance, and ensuring efficient use of IT systems.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, confident using Microsoft Office and NHS systems, and able to prioritise their workload effectively. You should be calm under pressure, a strong team player, and motivated to deliver safe, professional and compassionate support that makes a real difference to patients, families and colleagues.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for an organised and motivated Administration Assistant to support the Ward Manager and inpatient team at Priscilla Bacon Lodge.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and staff, providing a welcoming and professional service. The role involves a wide range of duties including maintaining records and correspondence, updating Trust systems, organising meetings, supporting recruitment processes, and ordering supplies. You will also provide flexible cover across reception and other inpatient units when required.

This is a busy and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Strong communication, IT and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to ensure high standards of care and service.
