Job Description:
This role is for maternity cover for 12 months but could potentially become a full time position.
Envirolab is an analytical laboratory with an outstanding track record for delivering analysis competitively and on time. The company provides environmental analytical services predominately of soil and groundwater samples.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out technical work in accordance with Envirolab procedures.
- Covering the day to day instrument operations.
- Ensure all work completed is according to UKAS and Envirolab QMS requirements.
- Calibration of all laboratory equipment.
- Carry out and document regular instrument maintenance.
- Process, calculate and check analytical results.
- Assist in preparation for various analysis.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Work within the confines of Envirolab’s safety policy paying due regard to the requirements for protective clothing.
- Train and assess other staff in Envirolab procedures.
- Report any anomalies or QC irregularities to the quality manager and accurately record such information.
- To recommend changes in all procedures or working practices where there are either errors or where recurrent problems occur.
- Carry out routine QC reviews.
- Carry out regular SHEMS inspections.
- Any other duties deemed reasonable for this position.
Person specification:
- The ideal candidate will preferably have 12 months hands on experience of one or more of ICPOES, ICPMS, HPLC, TOC/DOC, Skalar, Aquakem/Gallery, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- The successful candidate may also need to assist in method development and validation so any relevant experience would be an advantage.
- Assistance in other parts of the laboratory may also be required.
- Organised and methodical approach.
- Able to work in a busy environment.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong team player.
