Job summary

Teach Now Limited is seeking a Secondary Product Design Teacher for a Barnet-based school in North London. The role is full-time and long-term, starting September 2026, with a focus on delivering Product Design across KS3/KS4 and KS5 where desirable.

You will contribute to a supportive learning environment that values creativity and practical learning. The ideal candidate holds QTS or equivalent, has UK secondary teaching experience in Product Design or D&T, and can teach practical sessions as

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Product Design / Design & Technology in a UK secondary school.
• Strong understanding of KS3 and KS4 Design & Technology curriculum.
• Capable of delivering practical workshops and theory sessions.
• Awareness of workshop health and safety procedures.
• Demonstrated classroom and behaviour management.
• Ability to plan engaging lessons for diverse abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable, adaptable and committed to long-term placement.
• Enhancement DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Product Design lessons.
• Develop students creativity, technical knowledge, and design thinking.
• Teach practical and theory components of the D&T curriculum.
• Differentiate lessons for varied abilities.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare resources and maintain an organised learning space.
• Ensure safe use of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and wider school.
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety procedures.
