Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an Academic and Study Skills Tutor to join our Learning Development team. The role focuses on empowering students through a student-centred approach and innovative, collaborative teaching for both on-campus and online settings.

We value proactive candidates who can design diverse learning activities, lead projects, and contribute to service development while supporting inclusive education across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Candidates hold a degree and a relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert or FHEA).
• Experience designing and delivering study skills and academic literacy sessions.
• Ability to teach on-campus and online to support student development.

Responsibilities

• Design and embed study skills and academic literacy sessions within credit-bearing courses.
• Lead and expand co-curricular offerings: workshops, short courses, tutorials, and online resources.
• Create engaging digital and multimodal learning materials to foster independent learning.
• Develop and lead projects that enrich the student experience and drive improvement.
• Adopt research-informed, reflective practice to shape teaching.
• Collaborate with students, academics, and professional service colleagues to deliver inclusive education.
