Join an active, growing, specialist Innovation Reliefs tax team at RSM within the Central Region. The role involves working directly with IT specialists across various businesses at the forefront of technology, within a global professional services firm.

  2. Meeting with clients and potential clients to explain our services.
  3. Determining scope of work and budget, proposing fee quotes.
  4. Developing claim methodologies and managing R&D tax relief claims for HMRC.
  5. Leading interviews with clients’ technical and finance teams to identify qualifying activities and expenditures.
  6. Writing and editing technical descriptions of projects for HMRC reports.
  7. Preparing supporting documentation based on UK BIS guidelines and CIRD manual.
  8. Building internal and external networks for business development.
  9. Identifying and progressing new business opportunities.
  10. Liaising with HMRC regarding R&D claims.
  11. Acting as a point of contact for R&D projects.
  12. Reviewing work by junior staff for accuracy and providing feedback.
  13. Ensuring tax quality standards are maintained.
  14. Updating the team on project progress and issues.
  15. Communicating effectively with firm leadership.
  16. Adapting approaches to meet client needs while maintaining professionalism.
  17. Staying informed about the firm’s services and publications to add value and identify opportunities.

About the ideal candidate

The candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of computer science and software development, with experience in R&D.

  • Computer Science degree or postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience in the software/IT industry.
  • Good knowledge of UK’s R&D tax incentives.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims.
  • Clear and concise writing skills.
