The team and role:

Joining an established finance team of professionals supporting offices across Europe, Middle East and Asia as part of the shared service function.

Reporting to the Senior Tax Director Europe & Asia-Pacific, this is a key role that will assist with both compliance and advisory tax work while being customer service focused and an important one stop service for our internal stakeholders, many of whom are very senior and high calibre individuals.

This will be a mixed tax role with the primary focus being on international corporate tax so an International Tax background will be a key advantage. Experience in one or more of the following areas would also be advantageous:

  • withholding taxes
  • VAT and other indirect taxes

The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to work outside of his or her comfort zone, have strong technical skills and the ability to make sound commercial judgement. They will be proactive, have a hands-on approach and be solution orientated often researching information and developing proposals if the answer is unknown. Strong technical skills are a pre-requisite but experience requirements can be flexed for candidates with the right commercial strengths. As well as the in-house team, A&M has a growing tax consulting practice that supports the business in appropriate areas as well as a range of external advisers.

For candidates with more experience, a more senior role can be considered as well and A&M will consider exceptional candidates falling outside the specific experience levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance

  • Liaise with the A&M Finance teams and oversee and liaise with our outsourced local compliance providers across all European and Asian territories;
  • Monitor deadlines for direct tax filings to ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of local and national direct tax filings;
  • Review of draft tax returns and computations as prepared by external compliance providers;
  • Manage direct tax payments on both a final and interim periodic basis as required in conjunction with A&M Finance team and outsourced local service providers;
  • Obtain UK residence certificates as required and manage obtaining non-UK certificates with local service providers;
  • Work with our external compliance providers to assist with our annual US GAAP FIN48 submission to US parent;
  • Work with our external compliance providers to assist in preparation of our annual Group tax provision calculations for all assigned territories;
  • Supporting on UK employment tax matters including PSA, Taxed Award Scheme and Short Term Business Visitors as well as supporting and advising relevant internal teams in relation to employment tax issues.
  • Assist with A&M’s Country by Country (“CbC”) filing requirements for all assigned territories;
  • Manage all local territory CbC notifications as required including monitoring of deadlines;
  • Manage Pillar 2 notifications, assist with Globe Information Return and other Pillar 2 domestic tax returns (e.g. QDMTT) with local service providers;
  • Transfer Pricing – liaise with our primary TP advisers and local territory advisers to support and co-ordinate their work on preparing our annual TP returns and documentation.
  • Work with the Global Mobility and Payroll teams to review proposed client project scopes, locations and entities to identify and mitigate possible PE and payroll exposure risks;
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries and planning around MD compensation;
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries around MD and Contractor engagement planning and structures (e.g. employee or Personal Services Company or partnership);
  • Identify withholding tax and other exposures on cross-border projects;
  • Assist the team with any local tax queries and audits as required, including gathering required information and analyses, and review of proposed responses to tax authorities drafted by local advisers as appropriate;
  • Work with the Finance and Treasury teams on funding opportunities and provide tax efficient solutions;
  • Develop tax process guidelines and documentation for governance purposes;
  • Support TP work with external advisers to identify solutions to TP issues and develop improved group processes;
  • Assist with ad-hoc VAT queries on billing matters;
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries from client-facing teams and propose tax efficient structure for engagements;
  • Liaison with other departments as required, in particular Finance, Legal, Payroll and Global Mobility, client-facing teams as well as local outsourced tax compliance and advice providers;

Skills and qualifications:

  • Broad-based post-qualification tax experience primarily in a large multinational in-house team or large international tax corporate advisory practice
  • Excellent levels of accuracy with strong organisational skills
  • Deadline orientated and able to prioritise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with external service providers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated hands on approach
  • Strong commercial awareness and judgement
