Works under the patient care manager/clinical coordinator. The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care on a nursing unit according to policy and procedure.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in use of computer software, including electronic patient records. Ability to use the internet for literature searches regarding patient care.

Experience

Two years of acute care medical/surgical experience required. Previous intravenous therapy experience preferred. PICC competency is required within 6 months.

Licensure

Valid state of RI RN license

Special Skills

Competency in PICC insertion, IV therapy implementation and documentation, assessment for IV therapy needs, and vascular access device insertion. Knowledge of central venous access devices, mechanical controlling devices, blood/blood component therapy, and autologous donor collection. Serves as an educational resource in IV therapy and participates in maintaining quality/clinical indicators.
