Job Description Summary: Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's biggest Retail, Digital and Mobile bank with over 30 million customers, so we have a big responsibility to help Britain prosper. The world is changing at pace and our daring new £3bn strategy is responding with the foundations of having built a market‑leading digital bank. And it's the role of our Chief Information Office (CIO) to provide the backbone infrastructure upon which this bank operates.

Job Description

About the challenge

We're looking to build a new dynamic, scalable, software‑defined and automated solution that will enable managed networks and boundary controls within the LBG data centres. We're embarking on a bold redesign of the current network incorporating features that allow it to be better automated, easier to manage, secure and centred around applications and application flows.

Want to know more?

  • Our Data Centre network team is part of the LBG networks journey to a more flexible and automated network.
  • In order to deliver securely and at pace we’re redefining the delivery and operational capabilities of the team, based on DevOps principles and technologies.
  • This technical role will be pivotal in growing, integrating and optimising our toolsets for the future.
  • The role needs someone with a can‑do mindset, someone willing to learn new skills on the job and who relishes a challenge.
  • You’ll be able to look at the big picture to enable the team to take the Software‑Defined Data Centre idea from a proof of concept through to a fully integrated and managed service within the bank.

So, what about you? We know that people don’t always fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone’s individual skills, experiences, and knowledge – it’s what makes you, you.

But we’re specifically looking for the following:

  • Technical experience with Cisco Data Centre Network architecture and design.
  • Technical hands‑on experience in deploying and operating Advanced Cisco Infrastructure (Cisco ACI).

We’d also love to see experience across some of the following:

  • A modern engineering background using the latest tools and techniques, including infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
  • Scripting languages such as Shell, Python or Ansible.
  • Terraform and cloud‑native provisioning templates.

Other useful skills could include:

  • An understanding of modern networking components.
  • JIRA/Confluence, ServiceNow – Incident, Change and Problem Management.
  • Knowledge surrounding the integration of Checkpoint Firewalls and F5 Service (e.g., GTM, LTM, WAF) onto Cisco ACI.
About working for LBG

The environment we work in is fast‑paced, collaborative and dynamic – we also have fun along the way! We’re hybrid working, so you’ll need to live within driving distance of a hub location to get in one or two days a week and there may be elements of out‑of‑hours working which is well compensated.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary.
  • A group performance‑related annual bonus.
  • Generous pension contribution of up to 15 %.
  • 27 days holiday plus bank holidays on top.
  • Private health cover.
  • Various share schemes, including free shares.

We’re passionate about diversity and equal opportunity with industry recognition across gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ and families. Being disability positive, reasonable adjustments can be accommodated in our recruitment process. We’re simply committed to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

So if you have the technical background we’re seeking and this opportunity appeals, get in touch – we’d love to hear from you. At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you’ll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, while the scale and reach of our Group means you’ll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.
