Infrastructrure Manager- Retail experience

90,000-100,000K- Hybrid position

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Infrastructure Manager to lead and evolve our core IT systems, with particular strengths in network architecture, database administration, and vendor management. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight of third-party service providers, ensuring the delivery of a robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Oversight:

• Lead the day-to-day operation and strategic development of the IT infrastructure across servers, storage, cloud platforms, and enterprise tools.
• Ensure resilience, performance, security, and disaster recovery readiness of infrastructure systems.
  
  

Network Management

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level LAN/WAN, wireless networks, VPNs, and firewall infrastructure (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
• Proactively monitor, diagnose, and resolve network issues to ensure uptime and business continuity.
• Ensure network security and compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  
  

Database Administration (DBA)

• Administer, monitor, and optimise relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle), ensuring high availability and performance.
• Oversee backups, restores, replication, patching, and disaster recovery planning for databases.
• Collaborate with development and analytics teams on schema design and query tuning.
  
  

Vendor & Supplier Management

• Lead relationships with infrastructure, network, cloud, telecoms, and data centre vendors.
• Manage contracts, performance SLAs, renewals, and procurement of IT hardware/software and services.
• Hold suppliers accountable for delivery standards, cost-efficiency, and compliance.
• Drive value through strategic sourcing, cost negotiations, and vendor reviews.
  
  

Leadership & Team Management

• Manage a team of infrastructure engineers and support staff, providing coaching, workload management, and performance development.
• Act as the senior point of escalation for technical infrastructure issues.
• Foster a culture of service excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  
  

Project Delivery & Strategy

• Lead infrastructure upgrade projects, cloud migrations, and network refreshes from concept to delivery.
• Contribute to the development of the IT strategy and technology roadmap.
• Ensure infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals.
  
  

Key Skills And Experience Required

• Proven experience in an Infrastructure Manager, Network Manager, or Senior Systems Administrator role.
• Strong technical knowledge of networking (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.) and enterprise firewalls.
• Demonstrated experience as a hands-on DBA with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Experience managing hybrid environments across on-prem and cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Strong vendor and supplier management experience, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and automation tools.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.
  
  

Desirable

• Relevant certifications: CCNA/CCNP, Azure/AWS certifications, ITIL Foundation, or PMP/Prince2.
• Experience with scripting or infrastructure-as-code (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform).
• Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI-DSS).
