Job summary

RM Education is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to: develop and deploy high-volume, high-stakes SaaS infrastructure; work with Azure, Kubernetes, and related technologies; and mentor the Infrastructure Engineering team. You will collaborate with architects and developers to uphold RM's high standards and secure operations.

The role supports hybrid working and a strong benefits package, with on-call responsibilities and a focus on customer-centric RM values.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of and implementation experience in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including Azure Kubernetes, Application Gateway, APIM, PostgreSQL, SQL Server and ServiceBus.
• Strong understanding and implementation experience of security, IAM, networking and database concepts.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Helm Charts, Docker, Terraform, Bash, Packer and Ansible.
• Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes.
• Time management skills: prioritise tasks, own outcomes, and navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent collaboration, strong RM values alignment and communication.
• Mentoring skills and willingness to coach peers.

Responsibilities

You will work as part of a project-focused delivery team to produce infrastructure aligned with RM’s reference architectures and design patterns using Infrastructure as Code to deliver RM Assessment’s high volume, high stakes customer facing SaaS products. You will be a key collaborator within a project-focussed delivery team alongside architects and application developers, working with the wider Infrastructure Engineering team to ensure a united and cohesive approach across all projects. Your insights and expertise will be instrumental in setting an extremely high standard of infrastructure coding, and your keen eye for detail and diagnostic skills will be invaluable. You will build on the combined skills and strengths of the Infrastructure Engineering team through mentorship.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop infrastructure and application deployment pipelines.
• Deploy new and changed infrastructure and applications.
• Support project delivery through timely delivery of quality infrastructure and pipelines.

• Produce technical documentation to a high standard.
• Provide 4th line escalation for infrastructure issues including on call (on a rota basis).
• Mentorship within the Infrastructure Engineering team.

Experience

• Comprensive knowledge of and implementation experience in Microsoft Azure ecosystem, which must include Azure Kubernetes, Application Gateway, APIM, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, ServiceBus and associated diagnostics services underpinning data processing and distributed applications.
• Solid understanding and implementation experience of Security, IAM, Networking, and Database concepts.
• Extensive experience of the following products: Azure DevOps, Helm Charts, Docker, Terraform, Bash, Packer, Ansible.
• Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes.
• Time management skills: ability to understand business impact and prioritise tasks accordingly, take ownership of project outcomes and resolve issues in the face of ambiguity.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, a highly personable, engaging approach and a strong alignment to RM's core values: Customer success, high standards, respect for others, innovation, openness and enjoyment at work.
