BT Group in Ipswich is recruiting an Infrastructure Engineering Professional to lead the design, build and evolution of a next-generation private cloud based on VMware Cloud Foundation, enabling secure, high-performance workloads for internal teams and external customers. This role requires DV security clearance, on-site presence in Ipswich, and collaboration across security-focused teams.

You’ll drive automation with Terraform, Ansible and PowerShell while strengthening resilience and security.

Qualifications

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to shape and operate the platforms that power critical services at scale. You’ll lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of a next-generation private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9), enabling secure, resilient, and high-performance workloads for both internal teams and external customers.

You’ll help establish VMware Cloud Foundation as the standardised private cloud platform—driving consistency, scalability, and innovation across the organisation. Your expertise will help reduce risk, speed up delivery, and create a future‑ready platform that can scale with evolving business and customer demands.

This job role is based in Ipswich. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

• Proven ability in automation and Infrastructure as Code

Desirable experience
