Job summary

lowRISC CIC, based in Cambridge, is seeking an Infrastructure Support Engineer to sustain and extend a compact, multi-faceted infrastructure for hardware design, security verification, FPGA testing, and silicon CI/CD. You will gain hands-on experience across declarative infrastructure, zero-trust networking, and hybrid cloud/Kubernetes, enhancing productivity for engineers building open-source silicon.

This role suits a junior to mid-level engineer who thrives on learning fast and delivering

Qualifications

• Strong Linux fundamentals and production-like system administration.
• Python scripting and maintaining existing Python tooling.
• Hands-on Kubernetes administration and YAML manifests.
• Experience with Terraform/OpenTofu or similar IaC tools.
• Git/GitHub knowledge, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to ramp up on new tools quickly.
• Clear cross-domain communication.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot on-prem Kubernetes cluster for hardware sim, verification, and test workloads.
• Support Nebula overlay network for zero-trust across distributed teams.
• Operate and enhance self-hosted GitHub Actions runners and FPGA test rig.
• Maintain and improve Python internal tooling for engineers.
• Manage NixOS servers via declarative configurations.
• Provision and manage Google Cloud resources with Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Monitor system health and respond to alerts.
• Collaborate with hardware, security, and infra to debug CI, FPGA, cloud, and scripts.
• Document setups and onboarding workflows.
