Job description

This role sits within the Infrastructure team in the Information Services department. The post holder is expected to have a good understanding across a broad range of IT disciplines, although likely to specialise in one or more areas of expertise such as, but not limited to, networking & telephony, cloud, and security.

Providing an excellent experience for both staff and students, the role holder will work closely with the Service Desk and other specific IT service areas in a 3rd line support capacity. The role holder will also contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the University IT infrastructure both on-premise and in the cloud.

The team is responsible for the smooth running of all IT Infrastructure and contributes to ongoing continual service improvements.

Experience/Qualification required

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
2. Specific experience working in large and diverse environments, deploying and supporting IT infrastructure
3. Specific skills & knowledge of Windows Active Directory infrastructure
4. Specific skills & knowledge of robust network architecture, firewall, VPN, IDS, and application firewall systems
5. Specific skills & knowledge of telephony and modern enterprise-voice/SIP systems
6. Specific skills & knowledge of virtualization with VMware or Hyper-V
7. Specific skills & knowledge of WiFi design and management
