Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and operate cloud-native infrastructure across public and private environments. The role emphasizes security, resilience, sustainability, and observability, with a strong focus on automation and testing to enable rapid delivery.

You will collaborate with product teams to shape roadmaps, manage lifecycle of technologies from deployment to retirement, and provide operations support for complex, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native apps.
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking and infra services.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes-based deployments and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
• Experience with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus) and CloudWatch.

• You’ll engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments, complying with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in
• You’ll also use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately through a users’ CI or CD pipeline

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, along with developing products using modern engineering practices and tools.

We’ll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement. You’ll also support engineered products and respond to user feedback, new feature requests and resolve production issues wanted by the Product Owner.

The skills you’ll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll have experience in developing CI/CD pipelines using modern tooling, including Enterprise Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation.

We’ll expect you to design, implement, and manage AWS networking and infrastructure services, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, VPC Peering, Internet Gateway, Route 53, DNS, Global Accelerator, Application Load Balancers (ALB), and Network Load Balancers (NLB).

Furthermore, You’ll Need

• Experience in administering Kubernetes platforms and cloud-native infrastructure, with expertise in deployment automation and lifecycle management using Amazon EKS, Argo CD, Karpenter, and Helm
• The ability to implement and manage observability solutions with Open Telemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch for monitoring, alerting, and operational insights
• Proficiency in security vulnerability management, remediation, patching, and compliance controls, including AWS Config and enterprise governance standards
• Familiarity with managing and supporting Apigee Hybrid, including Runtime Plane operations and provisioning and administration of Environments and Environment Groups, would be advantageous
