Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Brookwood, UK - hybrid

Work schedule: 37.5 hours

The Opportunity:

The Infrastructure Engineer will work with the infrastructure team to manage the production estate of the UK business. They must ensure that best practices are implemented and used throughout the infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player capable of managing changing priorities, taking direction, and completing tasks with minimal supervision. They will have an eye for detail, take pride in their work, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues. The candidate should be ambitious to learn and eager to advance in their IT career.

• System monitoring
• Managing and performing environment checks
• Managing & deploying patches and updates
• Managing backups and restores
• Managing & deploying SSL certificates
• Managing & deploying antivirus solutions
• Server support and provisioning
• Disaster recovery and performance testing
• Network and firewall support

Experience:

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer
• Industry-recognized qualifications or vocational training (e.g., Microsoft)
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019 administration tasks
• Experience with virtualization software such as VMware and Hyper-V
• Knowledge of network principles like TCP/IP, ports, VLANs
• Experience managing firewalls, routers, switches, and other network infrastructure

Skills:

• Operating Systems: Windows Server 2022, Linux
• Server hardware including SANs
• Virtualization: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware
• Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS
• Web server: Windows IIS
• Databases: Microsoft SQL 2016/2019/2022
• Active Directory & domain services: DNS, DHCP, GPOs
• Networking equipment: Switches, Firewalls (Fortinet, WatchGuard), Wireless Access Points

Desirable:

• Microsoft certifications in administration or networking (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP)
• Experience with SANs
• Experience with Watchguard and Fortinet firewalls
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 systems
• Experience with Azure and AWS
