Job summary

JLA Resourcing Ltd is seeking an experienced SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer to join a greenfield Defence programme. The role is predominantly remote with about four days per month onsite near Portsmouth.

You will design and build secure Windows/Linux infrastructure, implement hardening, monitoring, logging and Zero Trust principles, and work across AD, Hyper-V and security controls. The position requires active SC clearance and is Outside IR35.

Qualifications

• Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy experience.
• Microsoft virtualization experience, ideally Hyper-V.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu.
• Experience building infrastructure environments from the ground up.
• Strong security hardening experience.
• Knowledge of SIEM, logging, monitoring and observability; Splunk would be beneficial.
• Experience with vulnerability management and security configuration/compliance.
• An understanding of networking and firewall technologies.
• Previous experience within Defence, Government or another secure environment.
• Autonomous work style, turning requirements into practical technical solutions.

Title: SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer (Outside IR35)

Location: Hybrid, Portsmouth area, allow one day a week

Contract: Until the end of March 2027

Start: ASAP

You must hold active SC Clearance to be eligible for this role.

This role has been deemed Outside IR35.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer to join a greenfield Defence programme, helping to design and build a new secure infrastructure environment from the ground up.

This is a hands-on design and build role rather than BAU support. You will work across Windows infrastructure, Linux, virtualisation and security, helping establish a secure environment incorporating hardening, monitoring, logging and Zero Trust principles.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will:

• Design and build secure infrastructure within a greenfield environment.
• Work across Windows Server 2022/2025, Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows 11, alongside some Linux/Ubuntu.

The Person

You will be a self-starting Infrastructure Engineer who is comfortable working within greenfield, secure environments.

You should have:

• Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy experience.

• Working knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu.
• Experience building infrastructure environments from the ground up.
• Strong security hardening experience.
• Knowledge of SIEM, logging, monitoring and observability; Splunk would be beneficial.
