Peaple Talent have partnered with a well established client in the South West who are looking to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer. This vacancy has become available as the last person doing this role was promoted.

For this role, the candidate will have a variety of experience across networking and IT support areas, with particular experience in Virtualization, Dell Server Systems, AWS/Azure platforms, Networking and many more.

You’ll be part of a small and collaborative IT team, taking charge of both our clients physical and virtual on-premise and cloud-based server infrastructure.

You’ll be responsible for monitoring and maintaining network health, working alongside the Security team and help manage firewall configurations and oversee patching processes to uphold security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take a proactive approach to monitoring IT systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime across the entire organisation.
  • Make sure all IT related policies are actively upheld and followed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure related technical issues.
  • Continually assess existing systems and processes to uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Handle the setup, configuration, and enhancement of IT hardware components.
  • Keep IT infrastructure records up to date, creating or refining documentation where necessary.
  • Address and resolve escalated IT tickets from the support system (Jira) with attention to detail.
  • Apply necessary updates and patches to firewalls, servers, and workstations to maintain compliance.
  • Deliver project tasks punctually and in accordance with defined quality standards.

Key Experience Required:

  • Proficient in managing and configuring Active Directory, including Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPNs.
  • Familiar with Sophos security solutions, including endpoint protection, firewalls, and central management to safeguard IT assets.
  • Hands-on experience with server virtualization using VMWare vSphere.
  • Skilled in using PRTG Network Monitor for proactive monitoring and alerting to maintain system, uptime and performance.
  • Skilled in deploying and managing cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services to support hybrid and cloud-first strategies.
  • Practical experience with ManageEngine tools for IT Service Management, asset tracking, and system monitoring.
  • Experienced in using Veeam Backup solutions for data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of both Microsoft Server and Linux operating systems, enabling seamless integration and support of mixed environments.
  • Strong knowledge of WatchGuard Firewalls, with a focus on configuration, policy management, and threat prevention.
  • Expertise in Microsoft 365 and MS Exchange, including mailbox management, user administration, and hybrid configuration.
  • Well versed in Dell storage solutions, including installation, optimisation, and management of storage arrays for high-availability systems.
  • Advanced networking capabilities, including configuration and troubleshooting of VLANs to optimise network performance and segmentation.
