Overview

Are you passionate about building and maintaining robust IT systems that keep businesses running smoothly? B&M are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to design, support, and optimise our growing technology landscape. In this role, you'll work with a wide range of technologies; from servers and storage to networking, cloud, and automation, ensuring our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and high performing.

As part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you'll play a key role in keeping mission-critical systems reliable while helping to shape the future of our IT environment. This role is full time office based at our Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool.

Responsibilities
  • Shaping and delivering scalable, future-proof infrastructure across multiple data centres.
  • Managing and maintaining servers, storage, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Driving efficiency through automation and smart scripting.
  • Troubleshooting and optimising systems to keep performance at its best.
  • Supporting network and security initiatives to keep systems resilient and compliant.
  • Playing a key role in incident response, on-call support, and hands-on site work.
  • Sharing knowledge, mentor colleagues, and keeping documentation clear and up to date.
  • Leading and contributing to infrastructure projects, working with teams and suppliers to bring in new technology.
  • Ensuring changes are well managed, reviewed, and risk assessed.
Qualifications
  • A Deep expertise in server administration, networking, virtualisation, and storage technologies.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft products (M365) and Windows Server platforms.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, switching, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments is a plus.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell or similar tools).
  • A strong grasp of security best practices, protocols, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • A clear communicator and effective team player, able to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset with eagerness to learn and keep pace with new technologies and trends.
