Job summary

Xpertis Talent in Central London is seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Engineer for a 6-month contract. The role is hybrid, with 2–3 days on site, focusing on core virtualisation and hyperconverged environments across multiple sites.

You will manage VMware vSphere, Hyper-V and Nutanix, handle Tier 2/3 escalations, perform storage and backup tasks, and collaborate with network, cloud and security specialists on broader projects.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Nutanix HCI in complex, multi-site environments.
• Strong understanding of core storage protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, vSAN) and related storage tasks.
• Exposure to MSPs or multi-client support is a plus; proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2/3 infra issues.
• Comfort with patching, maintenance, and migration tasks in virtualised environments.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day administration and troubleshooting across VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and Nutanix platforms.
• Handle Tier 2 and 3 infrastructure escalations, capacity checks and performance tweaks.
• Assist with hypervisor host builds, storage setups, patching and migrations.
• Manage backup routines, DR testing and failover verification to keep services stable.
• Collaborate with network, cloud and security teams on wider projects.

The role is hybrid, roughly 2 to 3 days on site, focused on maintaining and optimizing core virtualisation and hyperconverged environments across multiple sites. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys a varied environment and stays calm when handling higher-tier technical escalations.

What You Will Be Doing

• Day-to-day administration and troubleshooting across VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and Nutanix platforms.
• Working through Tier 2 and 3 infrastructure escalations, capacity checks, and performance tweaks.
• Helping with hypervisor host builds, storage setups, patching, and ongoing migration tasks.
• Looking after backup routines, DR testing, and failover checks to keep services stable.
• Partnering with network, cloud, and security specialists across wider projects.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong, practical background across VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Nutanix HCI.
• Solid grasp of core storage protocols including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, and vSAN.
• Comfortable with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
• Previous exposure working in an MSP or supporting multi-client setups is a big plus.
