An interesting opportunity for an experienced Applications Engineer with knowledge and application of Quantum, Cloud Computing, Linux and/or VDI.

Our client, an established and reputable IT Consultancy provider, seeks an Applications Engineer well versed in data source analysis, operating systems, and a subject matter expert in Splunk.

Ideal candidate will:

• Have a background in Desktop Support or Desktop Engineering
• Come from a technical background with Windows Operating Systems, MacOS/iOS, Linux, etc.
• Understand Pandas and Spark; strong written and verbal communication skills & relationship building skills
• Be extremely detail-oriented and capable of working within a timely manner

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Be an expert in creating custom dashboards and alerts
• Serve as SME in creating, developing, and running reports in Splunk
• Analyze data sources for efficacy and efficiency, providing insights to optimize ingestion and data parsing/normalization
• Analyze Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, macOS, etc.), Network Devices (firewalls, routers, etc.), Applications, and provide recommendations and/or implement solutions to optimize quality of service
• Design and implement monitoring solutions
• Add customer context, analyze data to detect false positives, develop trends and data models
• Produce customized alerts, dashboards, and reports to track performance metrics
• Develop and optimize search queries, alerts, reports, and dashboards for performance and scalability
• Query Splunk and other data sources to surface trends indicative of issues with underlying infrastructure or applications
• Validate log sources and indexed data, search through data to optimize search criteria
• Document all actions taken as part of investigations and work closely with other teams to support the problem management process

Position Requirements:

• Relevant experience of 2+ years with Splunk and familiarity with uberAgent
• Capabilities in Pandas and Spark; strong
• Experience in incident and problem management
• Skills in identifying false positives, developing trends, and data models
