ABOUT ORGANOX:

OrganOx is an innovative, fast-paced, global medical device company with a mission to save lives by making every donated organ count. The company’s first product, the OrganOx metra normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) system for liver transplantation, has been used to support more than 5,000 liver transplant operations globally.

Position Summary

The Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining, scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure solutions. This role involves managing cloud deployments, automating processes, and ensuring the performance and security of our systems.

The Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer will collaborate with various departments to support the development and deployment of digital solutions, focusing on cloud architecture, management and observability. This position requires a combination of strategic and hands-on skills, built on technical expertise across cloud platforms, automation tools, and security frameworks

This is a flexible, on-site role in Oxford.

Major Responsibilities

Listed below are the major responsibilities of the role and a brief description of some of the key tasks to be performed. This list is not totally exhaustive:

Under direction from the Digital Architect the Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions using Azure and other cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using Terraform and Azure DevOps.
  • Work closely with the development team to support development activities, ensuring seamless integration and deployment of applications.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment, testing and development processes.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure and data, including access control, encryption, and compliance with security frameworks such as NIST.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements, enhance capabilities, and achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance and cost of services, ensuring optimal user experiences and cost management.
  • Ensure development, implementation, and operations adhere to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain documentation across the software development lifecycle.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of issues that may arise.
  • Develop and maintain data engineering solutions to support new data-orientated products.
  • Adhere to the letter and spirit of OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience (ideally 5-8 years) as an Infrastructure/DevOps Engineer, preferably within a regulated healthcare/life science environment.
  • Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), automation tools (Terraform, Azure DevOps), and containerization (Kubernetes, AKS).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST).
  • Solid understanding of contemporary development methodologies, such as Agile, and experience implementing such practices within small development teams.
  • Experience in working with internal and external development partners.
  • Skilled in data engineering, including developing and maintaining data architecture and solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a numerical, engineering or life science field.
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, IEC 62304, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
