Job description

The Infrastructure Automation Developer will play a pivotal role in building full-stack applications that automate infrastructure platforms, built on solutions primarily within Microsoft Azure. This includes developing both backend services (e.g., APIs, functions, integrations, configurations) and frontend interfaces (e.g., lightweight portals or dashboards) to support internal teams and external customers.

This is a hands-on development role best suited for someone comfortable navigating cloud platforms, writing Python code, and working collaboratively across teams to shape infrastructure automation solutions.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties

  • Full-stack Development: Design, build, and maintain full-stack automation applications using Python, Flask, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Azure Solutions: Develop backend services using Azure technologies including Functions, App Services, Automation Accounts, and Azure SQL, Key Vault, and Storage Accounts.
  • User Interfaces: Build user-facing interfaces such as portals or dashboards to present data and manage automation workflows.
  • CI/CD & Observability: Contribute to CI/CD workflows, including code integration, testing, deployment and monitoring/logging.
  • Code Quality: Participate in peer reviews and maintain Git version control practices using VCS.
  • Lifecycle Governance: Ensure all development adheres to SDLC and internal change management processes.
  • Standards & Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and adhere to internal frameworks and security standards.
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Collaborate with technical SMEs to deliver integrated code solutions that automate underlying platforms.
  • Technical Scoping: Work with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders to scope requests, plan automation outcomes, and test for delivery-readiness.
  • Customer Engagement: Able to travel to customers for occasional solution scoping, support, and workshops related to automation projects (not common).
  • Operational Readiness: Be prepared for future on-call responsibilities as required. This will likely be project driven.

Essential Skills

  • Python Development: Strong Python skills, ideally with experience in Flask or similar frameworks for backend and API development.
  • Azure Expertise: Demonstrable experience with at least three of the following Azure services, such as App Services, Functions, SQL, Automation Accounts, Logic Apps, API Management, Key Vault, or Storage Accounts.
  • Frontend Capability: Proficient in building user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • API Integration: Skilled in working with platform/external RESTful APIs and adopting an API-first development approach.
  • Version Control: Confident using Git for source control and familiar with branching strategies and workflow practices.
  • CI/CD Exposure: Experience using Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar tools to support automated deployments and testing.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on scalable and maintainable outcomes.
  • Delivery Focused: Demonstrated ability to contribute to structured project outcomes in a professional software development environment.
  • Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork, comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
