To continue to build on this foundation and to promote our successful data strategy, we are recruiting a talented and experienced Infrastructure Analyst to join our team. They will be responsible for deploying product updates, identifying production issues and implementing cloud integrations to meet our needs.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Development and Maintenance: Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure; planning of technical infrastructure projects and involvement in project management decisions; ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, resource optimization, configuring CPU, memory and disk partitions as required; maintaining cloud environmental and monitoring resources; contributing to maintenance, support and optimization of Simmons & Simmons Global IT infrastructure and non-application systems to targets (SLA/OLA); participating in design, implementation and management of workload automation initiatives.
- Cloud Solutions and Automation: Build, deploy, maintain and lead the implementation of cloud solutions across the public cloud using infrastructure as code (IAC), CI/CD pipelines and Bicep code deployment; develop, enhance and maintain automation of cloud enablement tools; implement and refine cloud future state architectures, roadmaps, architecture standards, guidelines and industry best practices.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats; collaborate with internal network team, security team and CISO to maintain security posture and compliance; adhere to firm Change Management and Problem Management policies; identify, suggest and implement continual improvements to cloud technologies.
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution: Identify technical problems and develop software updates and fixes; recognize and resolve business issues and impact; assess urgency of issues and facilitate follow-up and resolution to support service quality and availability.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work with technical architects, application developers and Cloud SMEs to ensure development follows established processes; contribute to 24x7x365 technical support of the Global IT infrastructure according to business requirements.
- Continuous Improvement and Strategy: Participate in technology evaluation and reengineering to support strategy definition and continuous process improvement; act as a technical project lead for further software defined services and offerings.
Qualifications
- BSC in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- Experience in an engineering role +2 years (ideally).
- General skills: effective communication, resilience, resourcefulness; familiarity with ITIL processes and documentation frameworks; strong logical/analytical mindset; ability to explain complex topics to non-technical users; strong scheduling, prioritisation, effort estimation and risk management; self-motivation, problem-solving attitude and collaborative team spirit.
- Application/Technical skills: experience with Azure networking (VNETs, VWAN, ExpressRoute, VNGs, P2S/S2S, Hub & Spoke); understanding of Application Gateways, Load Balancer, Azure Firewall and Front Door; knowledge of Azure security primitives (Managed Identities, Key Vault, Conditional Access, Azure Security Center); knowledge of Azure Compute, Storage, Web Apps, Azure Migrate (ASR), Site Recovery and Native Rubric Backup; experience with IaC, Bicep, Pipelines and Azure DevOps; PowerShell in Azure; knowledge of enterprise IT applications (e.g., Microsoft 365 suite, Active Directory, AD Connect, ASR, AVD); experience with interdependent services and shared enablers (e.g., Active Directory); practical focus with pragmatic solutions; experience with VMware vSphere, HPE servers & storage; knowledge of data centre technologies and VMware virtualization; some experience with third-party IaaS/private cloud is advantageous; ITIL framework desirable.
- Other requirements: flexibility to work out of hours and overtime as needed; willingness to on-call rotationally; willingness to travel occasionally within UK, EMEA and APAC; hybrid working with a minimum of three days in the office.
