Job description

Job Title: IT Support Specialist

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum

Contract: 2-Year Fixed Term

Department: IT

Reports to: IT Infrastructure Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly capable and proactive IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT team on a 2-year fixed-term basis for Our banking client. In this role, you’ll provide day-to-day technical support and take ownership of systems installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance across desktop, network, and server environments. This position offers hands-on exposure to a wide range of enterprise-grade technologies including Microsoft 365, VMware, Cisco, Palo Alto, Nessus Tenable, and more.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Configure and deploy desktops, laptops, and printers.
  • Provide end-user support for Microsoft 365, desktop applications, and email systems.
  • Serve as a help desk contact for resolving IT-related issues across the business.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and network performance issues.

Network & Security

  • Support and maintain Cisco, HP, and IBM switches (VLANs, ports, etc.).
  • Assist with daily operations and maintenance of Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and Cisco Firepower firewalls.
  • Carry out vulnerability scanning via Nessus Tenable, and remediate findings in coordination with SMEs or vendors.

Infrastructure & Systems

  • Assist in the administration and monitoring of Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, and Windows Server environments.
  • Maintain virtual environments (VMware), Citrix load balancers, and F5 web application firewalls.
  • Participate in patch management and endpoint security testing.

Operational Duties

  • Ensure timely execution of daily/monthly/year-end processes.
  • Take and verify backups using Arcserve/Veritas.
  • Maintain accurate system inventories and IT documentation.
  • Liaise with external vendors and assist with due diligence requests.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience & Skills

  • Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019
  • Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Exchange 2016
  • Active Directory administration and Group Policy management
  • Experience with Nessus Tenable or other vulnerability scanners
  • Familiarity with Cisco/Palo Alto firewalls and HP network devices
  • VMware administration
  • Proven background in end-user support and desktop management

Desirable

  • Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or Red Hat Linux knowledge
  • Experience with IBM Power systems
  • Familiarity with F5 and Citrix load balancers
  • Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCSA, or equivalent)
