Allen Lane are proud to be supporting the London Borough of Newham in their search to appoint a Business Relationship Manager on a permanent basis. This is a strategic and rewarding opportunity to shape how the Council engages with technology and delivers services across the borough. If you're an expert in stakeholder engagement, passionate about driving business change through digital innovation, and thrive in senior leadership conversations, this role is a chance to make a meaningful impact.

The role sits withinthe Delivery and Oversight tower that ensures the effective integration of delivery, risk management and strategic governance across the whole DDaT Function. If the ‘A’ in DDaT could be its own definition it would be ‘Assurance’. Delivery and Oversight is crucial to help create and drive a culture in DDaT of performance, innovation and continuous improvement and inspire new ways of working for the rest of the Council.

The role

As the Business Relationship Manager, you will:

  • Lead engagement with senior leaders across the Council, building trusted relationships and shaping how DDaT can support their ambitions
  • Translate service needs into clear digital strategies and ensure technology investment is aligned with Council priorities
  • Act as a critical advisor on business change, process improvement and digital readiness
  • Influence at all levels, negotiating priorities, developing business cases and managing expectations
  • Be the key point of contact for service areas – facilitating change, solving complex issues and driving value for money in delivery
  • Play an active leadership role in DDaT – supporting cross-functional collaboration, innovation and service excellence

Key skills required

As a Business Relationship Manager, you will bring:

  • Significant experience of senior stakeholder engagement and managing strategic relationships in large organisations
  • Strong business analysis and change management capability, with an understanding of digital transformation and service improvement
  • A track record of shaping and delivering complex technology-enabled change across a range of services
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, influence decisions and balance business needs with strategic outcomes
  • Experience in business case development, feasibility assessment, and service design
