The opportunity

The IT Applications Manager is responsible for overseeing the enterprise applications landscape, specifically the deployment, maintenance and support of business-critical applications. This role must ensure application decisions are aligned to business requirements (via our architectural Enterprise Framework) and operate efficiently, securely and with minimal downtime. The role requires leadership of a team located across several countries, management of vendors, driving improvements and ensuring user satisfaction.

• Leading a multi-geographical team managing ERP and other business application needs
• Working with the Enterprise Architecture team to continually define and review applications-related business capabilities aligned to our future applications landscape
• Working with the Enterprise Architecture team to simplify an existing complex landscape while continuing to support short term business requirements and critical deliverables
• Developing the Applications team via a combination of training, coaching, direction and performance management
• Managing the budget according to agreed targets in relation to applications-related spend
• Overseeing the whole lifecycle of key business applications, both off the shelf and custom
• Ensuring availability, reliability and performance of all managed applications
• Together with the IT Project Management Office, planning and coordinating application-related projects and changes
• Being a reliable partner in terms of project deliverables and expectations
• Working together with other members of the IT team and key business stakeholders to identify needs and translate them into deliverable application requirements
• Managing the performance of the Applications team aligned to agreed KPIs / SLAs related to support objectives
• Managing user expectations and deliverables to ensure high levels of colleague satisfaction, as evidenced by our NPS
• Being the source of IT leadership for application-related projects
• Acting as a key point of contact for applications-related vendor relationships
• Monitoring vendor performance to ensure delivery aligned to contracts
• Ensuring alignment with the Information Security Officer and governance in terms of applications-related security requirements
• Working together with the Information Security team to mitigate unacceptable risks and provide information required by audit
• Keeping informed of the latest technology innovations and identify related opportunities to benefit our business

About you

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Essential

• Proven experience in an applications management and IT leadership role
• Experience of leading a multi-geographical team
• Strong knowledge of enterprise applications and ERP solutions
• Experience of digital transformation (impacts to solutions and teams) moving from on premise to a hybrid cloud-appropriate model, SaaS, etc.
• Experience of application integration and cloud solutions
• Experience of applying project management methodologies
• Strong communication / interpersonal skills

Desirable

• Experience in a regulated industry, ideally life sciences
• Experience of M&A activities
