Information Specialist - Compliance

Location: RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £39,500 - £50,000 (depending on suitability, qualifications, and experience)

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight.

Clearance Level: You will need to obtain and maintain DV security clearance, funded by AWE. Applicants must be British Citizens resident in the UK for the past 10 years.

Hybrid working is available on an informal, non-contractual basis, typically 2 days onsite per week.

Role Overview

AWE is recruiting an Information Specialist - Compliance for the Information, Configuration & Knowledge Management group. This role involves ensuring the organisation’s compliance with legal and regulatory obligations under various information and records legislation, including ONR’s Nuclear Licence Conditions, PRA, FOIA, and UK GDPR.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supporting regulatory compliance, including reporting breaches.
  • Delivering monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Producing accurate compliance reports.
  • Maintaining high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
Responsibilities
  • Conducting audits and assessments for compliance.
  • Assessing the maturity and efficiency of information management processes.
  • Gathering and summarising data related to information lifecycle management.
  • Communicating insights and recommending improvements.
  • Developing and managing metrics to measure IM performance.
  • Supporting risk management related to information security and accessibility.
  • Collaborating with staff and stakeholders to improve information management.
  • Providing technical advice on records management.
  • Leading activities related to information changes and improvements.
  • Staying informed on external advances in the field.
  • Building relationships across the business.
  • Supporting compliance efforts with senior staff and records officers.
Candidate Profile

Required:

  • Logical, detailed, and methodical approach.
  • Pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-organisation and motivation to meet milestones.

Preferred experience:

  • Working with legal, regulatory, and maturity requirements in information or records management.
  • Experience with KPIs, metrics, and digital data environments.
  • Producing reports and communication materials.
  • Managing paper and digital records within complex environments.
  • Influencing at all organisational levels.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
