Job summary

FAIRFIELDS - Engineering seeks a Financial Controller to support growing operations with a strong emphasis on information security governance. You will lead the ISMS, drive risk management, oversee audits, and ensure compliance across the group.

The role requires extensive knowledge of ISO 27001, GDPR and IT security frameworks, plus the ability to partner with finance, operations and clients on security matters. Hybrid UK travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Certifications such as ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of industrial cyber security standards, IEC 62443.
• 5+ years in information security, cyber security, or ISMS management.
• Strong experience implementing and auditing ISO 27001.
• Experience leading audits and compliance activities.
• Good understanding of GDPR and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the organisation’s ISMS, ensuring ISO 27001 compliance across functions.
• Act as information security expert providing guidance and assurance across the business.
• Develop and manage risk, compliance and governance frameworks including GDPR obligations.
• Lead audits, maintain certifications and ensure legal and contractual compliance.
• Develop and enhance security policies and controls aligned to ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Drive security awareness and training to foster a security-focused culture.
• Be the primary client-facing contact on information security matters and assurance activities.
• Monitor KPIs, report risk and security posture to senior leadership.
• Lead incident response and business continuity alignment.
• Champion continuous improvement for secure digital transformation.

Summary

With over 35 years of experience and a team of over 70 engineers, alongside experienced project and site managers, we bring together mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, control and digital expertise. We design, build and integrate systems that are practical, buildable and maintainable, ensuring they perform reliably in operation. We are now seeking a Financial Controller to support our growing operations.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the organisation’s Information Security Management System (ISMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 27001 and supporting integrated management standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Act as the organisation’s information security expert, providing guidance, leadership and assurance across all business functions.
• Develop and manage information security risk, compliance and governance frameworks, including GDPR and data protection requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits, maintain certification standards, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
• Develop, implement and enhance security policies, procedures and controls, aligned to recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Drive security awareness, training and best practice adoption to foster a strong security-focused culture throughout the business.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on information security matters, supporting customer assurance activities and pre-sales requirements.
• Monitor security performance, define KPIs and provide regular reporting on risk, compliance and security posture to senior leadership.
• Lead the response to security incidents, ensuring effective investigation, reporting, corrective actions and business continuity alignment.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives, supporting secure digital transformation, operational efficiency and the ongoing development of the wider management system.

Essential Skills & Competencies

• Degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications such as ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
• Knowledge and practical experience of industrial cyber security standards, particularly IEC 62443.
• Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in information security, cyber security, or Information Security Management System (ISMS) management.
• Strong expertise in implementing, maintaining and auditing ISO 27001 management systems.
• Demonstrable experience leading audits, certification processes and compliance activities.
• Sound understanding of GDPR, data protection legislation, information governance, and information security best practices.
• Good technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, networks and security controls.
• Proven ability to develop, implement and enhance security policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
• Highly organised, self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
• Eligible and authorised to work in the UK.
