Hours: Full Time / Part Time (Min 0.8 FTE)

Contract Type: Open Ended

Location: Polaris House, Swindon (Hybrid working available)

Role Overview

The Information Governance Group supports UKRI in meeting its statutory responsibilities under data protection, freedom of information, and environmental information regulations legislation. As an Information Rights Manager, you will work with Senior Information Rights Managers to deliver timely, high-quality responses to FOIA/EIR requests or data protection subject rights requests, provide advice on data protection inquiries, and support incident investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Respond to data subject rights requests and assist Senior Managers with complex requests.
  2. Handle FOI and EIR requests, determining exemptions and applying the public interest test.
  3. Provide guidance on information rights issues, including assessments and data sharing.
  4. Ensure compliance with legislation and embed good information governance practices.
  5. Raise awareness through training, inductions, and workshops.
  6. Stay updated on best practices and legislative developments.
  7. Support data protection incident investigations and policy updates.
  8. Undertake any additional tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
  • Holds a professional qualification in freedom of information/data protection.
  • Experience working with information rights legislation in complex environments.
  • Understanding of FOI and data protection laws.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply exemptions effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Clear communication and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and redaction software.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
