Job description
Overview

Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, driving transformational change within our clients. We use proven technology, specialist teams and domain expertise to build solid technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.

About the role

As the Information Management Lead, you'll play a key role in how critical information is managed across a dynamic and fast-paced energy operator. You'll ensure information is accurate, accessible, and trusted, while driving improvements that strengthen project delivery, compliance, and operational safety.

This role is not just about maintaining existing systems - it's about setting standards, embedding governance, and influencing change across teams and suppliers. You'll act as the subject matter expert for Information Management, working closely with third parties and internal stakeholders, and coaching others to build a future-fit IM function.

Responsibilities
  • Shape how information flows across the organisation, ensuring engineering data is accurate, secure, and accessible to the right people at the right time.
  • Lead smooth handovers from major capital projects into operations, enabling safe, efficient, and compliant transitions.
  • Safeguard integrity and governance of engineering information, setting standards that reduce rework, mitigate risk, and support compliance.
  • Champion best practices in lifecycle management, embedding ways of working that make information trusted and valuable across the asset.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, building a resilient and future-ready IM capability within the business.
  • Drive innovation in digital information systems, working with IT and business stakeholders to enhance usability, adoption, and effectiveness.
  • Act as the subject matter expert, influencing decision-makers, contractors, and third parties on how information is managed and shared.
  • Engage the business through clear communications, training, and awareness activities that strengthen the culture around information management.
Requirements
What you\'ll bring
  • Proven experience leading Information Management in an energy or asset-intensive environment, with a strong grasp of industry IM standards.
  • Strong knowledge of EDMS platforms (e.g. OpenText Documentum, SharePoint, or similar) and a track record of driving adoption and improvement.
  • Confidence influencing and engaging at every level - from contractors and project teams through to senior leadership.
  • A track record of delivering measurable improvements in IM processes, with impact on project delivery, safety, or compliance.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire others to adopt best practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strategic thinking, with a focus on making information accessible, reliable, and valuable.
  • Project/change management experience (formal certification such as PRINCE2 or APM is advantageous but not essential).
