Job description

The Government Property Agency (GPA) is the largest property holder in government, managing over £2.1 billion in assets and more than 55% of the government’s office estate.

We are transforming the Civil Service by creating excellent workplaces, leading the UK’s largest commercial office programme, reducing carbon emissions from government offices, and delivering value for taxpayers. We seek innovative, solutions-focused individuals to join our team.

Representing the best covenant in the UK – His Majesty’s Government – we lead transformational programmes such as the Government Hubs Programme, Whitehall Campus Programme, and Net Zero Programme. We also provide cost-effective property services including asset management, lifecycle replacement, and workplace services.

Innovation and progress are core to our culture. We promote lifelong learning, curiosity, and self-improvement. Our four core values guide our work, leadership, and growth:

  • Striving for excellence - We aim to deliver great results.
  • Empowering through respect - We ensure fair treatment for all.
  • Acting with integrity - We do the right thing consistently.
  • Succeeding together - We rely on each other to achieve success.

Join our diverse team that leads with purpose—improving sustainability, fostering social value, promoting inclusivity and flexibility, and supporting economic growth. Your work can make a meaningful impact and help shape our future.

The GPA is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion, actively recruiting candidates from disabled, ethnically or gender-diverse backgrounds, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Our Capital Projects team manages major construction and change projects under the Government Hubs and Whitehall Campus Programmes.

This role supports the government’s ‘Places for Growth’ initiative, which aims to relocate 22,000 Civil Servant roles out of London. The Information Management Lead will ensure project teams follow standards for building information management from design through operation. The role involves developing, implementing, and refining information management processes and governance, including strategy and compliance with statutory obligations.

The role ensures best practices in information acquisition, management, and organization, facilitating access to maximize reuse and exploitation of information.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of information management governance and strategy for the GPA Capital Projects team, managing a small team.
  • Managing the information lifecycle within systems and ensuring policies are followed.
  • Championing the corporate platform as the primary Records Management tool.
  • Demonstrating systems and processes to stakeholders, engaging with them to improve practices and meet legal obligations.
  • Applying strategic thinking to resolve operational issues while maintaining strategic objectives.
  • Supporting a culture of initiative and change management where ideas add value.
  • Understanding how information is processed and used within the organization and its relation to other assets and digital continuity.
  • Adhering to policies and legislation on information sharing, and advising on information flow with external parties.
  • Managing corporate collaboration and document storage spaces, enhancing user experience through engagement.
  • Overseeing the disposal of non-record information in line with retention policies.
