Job summary

The NHS Counter Fraud Authority seeks an Information and Intelligence Assistant IIA to manage intelligence data and evaluate fraud information. This role requires A level education or equivalent and offers a salary reflective of the high cost of living in London. Job description

The NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) is the national body responsible for all matters relating to the prevention, detection, and investigation of economic crime across the NHS. Further information about our work and annual plan for delivering this is available on our website.

The Information and Intelligence Assistant IIA will collate information, ensure it is accurately recorded, perform initial searches and enquiries using case management and intelligence systems. They will evaluate different types of fraud, bribery, and corruption information, and prioritize it to reduce threat, risk, harm, and vulnerability while maximizing opportunities. Sanitizing low-level intelligence and disseminating it in line with intelligence processes and legislation.

The post holder will be required to have an NPPV3.

Main duties of the job
  1. Receive and accurately record information on the intelligence management system, in line with confidentiality, sensitivity, and duty of care policies, and relevant legislation to ensure intelligence is processed in line with the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
  2. Gather, research, and evaluate information to prioritize reducing threat, risk, and harm, and aid informed decision-making.
  3. Maintain the integrity of the intelligence and case management system by ensuring entries are necessary, proportionate, relevant, accurate, timely, and secure.
  4. Work in collaboration with all external and internal stakeholders to mitigate risk while complying with relevant intelligence legislation, processes, and policies. This includes managing the departmental email account to service internal and external stakeholders.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Education to at least A level or equivalent experience to IPP or GCFP standards of Intelligence Foundation level.
  • Holds or has held IPP or GCFP Intelligence Professionalisation Programme certification, including CPD records.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience operating an Intelligence database and/or case management system.
  • Experience of performing the intelligence foundation role, with evidence of CPD.
  • Ability to evaluate and record information securely and accurately, supporting conclusions per the Intelligence Cycle and NIM.
  • Understanding of handling codes, source reliability, and risk management.
  • Awareness of risks related to sharing intelligence and presenting findings.
  • High-level computer literacy, including open-source research.
  • Experience working in a criminal intelligence environment.
Specialist Knowledge
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, e.g., GSCP, DPA & GDPR 2018, HRA 1998, FoI 2000, PIDA 1998, Fraud Act 2006, CPIA 1996, CJA 2003.
  • Familiarity with PNC, PND, ANPR, RIPA, FI, Triple I, ICDIP standards.
Communication Skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
  • Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, understanding priorities and articulating own effectively.
